PRODUCT TESTING Shutter Flex is committed
to providing quality
products. As such, a strict Quality Assurance program is maintained, which
includes product
testing. Structure Testing of Shutter Flex shutters at The University of Queensland confirms that it is structurally adequate to sustain the wind load required by AS 110.2-1989. Bushfire Testing of Shutter Flex shutters by the CSIRO yielded the following results: The shutter maintained its integrity throughout the 2 minutes exposed to 35 kW/m2 radiated heat. The plastic components of the actuating mechanism at each end of the louvre blades did melt, rendering the shutter inoperative, locked in the fully closed position. The central position of the front face of the louvre blades suffered some paint decomposition and discolouration. The side and top covers, because of their positions, faced higher levels of heat radiation and suffered proportionally more paint damage but did not undergo any visible distortion. Although the melting of actuating components in the shutter would affect its future operation, it would have no effect on its ability to protect the window during the course of the bushfire. The selected radiation flux level represents a severe bushfire exposure and the good performance of the shutter under these conditions allows confidence in the ability of this product to perform up to expectations on the proposed building.

Our Federation and Louvrol products include our unique stainless steel pin. Apart from the additional strength that this provides to your shutters, it also ensures that your shutters will not fall out, even when subjected to extreme heat.
